Outside, sunlight is filtering through broad green leaves. Inside, the room is cooler—wooden floors under bare feet and the sharp smell of bergamot peel left on a cutting board.
Someone has split open something tropical nearby, but Le Beau never quite becomes the sweet coconut drink you expect.
Instead, the warmth seems to sink into the wood.
That is the trick of it.
The opening feels bright, green and almost carefree; then the fragrance begins to soften around the edges. Coconut wood becomes smoother. Tonka warms on the skin. What started as daylight slowly begins to feel like late afternoon.
