AKRO — Bake
A lemon cupcake. Not notes suggesting a lemon cupcake — the actual thing, filling and all.
Lemon zest and lemon cream up front, limoncello underneath giving it that boozy-sweet edge, then warm pastry and a vanilla that knows to stay in the background. The lemon holds all the way through, which is the trick most gourmand citrus fragrances miss.
Olivier Cresp made Angel, Light Blue and Black Opium. AKRO is his and his daughter Anaïs's house, built entirely on everyday addictions. This one is modelled on the lemon cupcakes at a bakery on Carnaby Street.
