Warm spice over smoke, and it goes darker as it dries.
Cardamom, cinnamon and pink pepper open it bright and hot. Then it moves down: woods, styrax, cedar and a thread of green, with ambergris giving it that salty, skin-like depth. Reviewers describe a cedar-chest smell, gently smoky rather than campfire.
Tahitian vanilla and Peru balsam close it, and this is where it turns rich — sweet, resinous, and animalic enough that some people find it a lot.
Marie Salamagne composed it. Atelier des Ors suspend gold flakes in the bottle, which is either charming or silly depending on your mood.
